Faith UMC Update June 6, 2018

Posted by on Jun 6, 2018 in Krista Beth | 0 comments

Dear Friends in Faith,

Over the years, I have enjoyed communicating with you through this Faith UMC Update. It has been one way for me to share ideas and thoughts with you, as well as to help us keep up-to-date with what is going on in our church family.   This is my last Update and I wish to express my appreciation for you. Some of you I see frequently and others not so often, yet I feel connected to all of you. May God bless you and keep you always.

Below is a prayer by John Wesley. It is a favorite prayer of mine and one that guided my time with you and my decision to leave. You may scroll down further to find announcements about events and opportunities in your church community.

Your Friend in Faith,

Pastor Kristabeth

I am no longer my own, but thine.

Put me to what thou wilt, rank me with whom thou wilt.

Put me to doing, put me to suffering.

Let me be employed for thee or laid aside for thee,

exalted for thee or brought low for thee.

Let me be full, let me be empty.

Let me have all things, let me have nothing.

I freely and heartily yield all things to thy pleasure and disposal.

And now, O glorious and blessed God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit,

thou art mine, and I am thine.

So be it.

And the covenant which I have made on earth,

let it be ratified in heaven.

Rev. Leigh Goodrich to be Pastor of Faith UMC starting July 1st.

Bishop Sudarshana Devadhar intends to appoint Leigh Goodrich as pastor of the Faith United Methodist Church, South Burlington effective July 1, 2018 subject to fulfilling all of the requirements needed for a successful transition by the pastor and the respective churches affected by the appointment. The appointment will be finalized at the 2018 Annual Conference Session of the New England Conference. Let us pray for Pastor Leigh and her husband, Greg, during this time of transition.

FLOCK, our Children’s Church School, will be on summer break from June 10th through the beginning of September. Children of all ages are welcome (and encouraged) to attend worship with their families.  Coloring pages are available at the Children’s Table at the front of the Sanctuary.  The nursery will continue to be staffed throughout the summer (except on the First Sunday of the month).

Summer Lake Monster’s Game

It’s time to plan a late summer Faith UMC baseball game with the Lake Minsters, last season’s division winners! Please help select an evening game that you would like to attend. See the option on the Kiosk in the Narthex. Ticket prices will be $7 for an adult and $5 for a senior (60+) or a child 12 and under. Please indicate the number of tickets you would like Tim Hess to purchase on your behalf. Questions? Ask Tim. He will finalize the date and make all arrangements for ‘block seating’ tickets. You won’t pay for your tickets until Tim gives them to you the week prior to the game.

Hearing Assistance Devices

The Hearing Assistance Devices have recently been tested. All units have fresh batteries and are in working order. We have seven Hearing Assistance Devices available for those who have difficulty hearing the service. You can find them on the shelf as you enter the Sanctuary. The ushers can assist you!

Church Library

Our Church Library (located past the Pastor’s Office beside the Sanctuary) was recently organized and new books were added. There are books available for children, youth and adults – fiction and non-fiction. Books are arranged by category and can be checked out for your use and enjoyment! As you enter the library there is a sign-up sheet attached to the wall. Just write down the book title and your name and we trust you will return it when you are done!

Painters Needed!

The Trustees are looking for volunteers to paint three rooms – two at the parsonage and one at the church. If you enjoy painting, and would like to lend a hand, speak with Beth Williams or Ann DeYoung.
