Faith UMC Update May 17, 2018

Dear Friends in Faith,

Pentecost is one of my favorite days of the year!  Unlike Christmas and Easter, Pentecost doesn’t get a lot of attention in the wider culture.  Yet it is essential to the experience of our Christian faith since Pentecost celebrates the coming of the Holy Spirit.  Up until Pentecost, the followers of Jesus were a pretty small group.  On Pentecost, three thousand people experienced the Holy Spirit and were baptized.  The Church was born!  On Pentecost we wear red and decorate the church to symbolize the flames of the Holy Spirit, which is still with us.  The Holy Spirit was given to us as a comforter, a guide, and advocate.

Below you will find a prayer for Pentecost.  If you scroll down further you will find announcements about events and opportunities in your church community.

Your Friend in Faith,

Pastor Kristabeth

For the Spirit of Peace
that calms our mind
and stills our life,
we give you thanks.
For the Spirit of Love
that touches hearts
and reaches out,
we give you thanks.
For the Spirit of Joy
that lifts our soul
and gives us faith
we give you thanks.
For the Spirit of Power,
that gift of grace
for this your church,
we give you thanks.
