Donations, donations, donations!

By now you’ve heard that FUMC is holding its first ever online silent auction from June 11th – June 18th. For one week, church members, friends, family and community members can join the excitement of bidding on a variety of items. In addition to items donated by local retailers, we’d also like to offer up unique and creative items from our church members. We hope each household will donate one (or more) items for the auction. We have four drop off days/times planned at the church (in the Narthex) and will announce more soon. If you are unable to drop off during these times or need to make alternate plans, please contact Alan Luzzatto at nesandal@comcast.net. Please email the following information regarding your donation to Alan at nesandal@comcast.net or bring this information with you to the drop-off:

Someone from our solicitation team will confirm receipt of your donation offer and follow up with additional details. 

All donations must be at the church by May 29th for inventory purposes.

Here are some donation ideas:

  •       Gift cards to retailers or local businesses
  •       Sponsor a prize basket – create your own theme or work with us to fill baskets with a few missing pieces; For example:
    •    Midnight serenade – bottle of wine, Dakin farm cheese and summer sausage, crackers, bug spray
    •    Breast Cancer Survivor basket – various items with pink ribbon logo
    •    Father’s Day sports basket – dozen golf balls, tees, golf towel, etc.
    •    Gardener’s delight – garden gloves, garden hat, kneeling pad, Miracle grow, stakes for labeling flowers, sunscreen
    •    Italian dinner night – fancy pasta and jarred sauce, wine, colorful kitchen towels, wooden utensils for tossing salad, flavored balsamic vinegar and oil
  •       Baked goods – a favorite pie, a special dessert, 2 dozen cookies/bars, fudge, decorative candies
  •       Artwork – yours or someone else’s – paintings, stoneware, stained glass, woodwork project, etc.
  •       Gently-used or new items of high value (subject to review by solicitation committee)
  •       Have an antique that needs a new home? Let’s take a look. (subject to review by solicitation committee)
  •       Donate a service – deliver a homemade meal, garden consulting, yardwork services, clean out garage, car washing, hedge trimming, boat ride with a picnic
  •       Donate your craft – offer to play a specific piece of music or serenade someone with a song of your (or the winning bidder’s) choice, composting consultation, fishing lessons, a 60-min birding tour at Muddy Brook trails, identify wild flowers on a hike at Shelburne Farms, help design a butterfly garden, etc. 
  •       Donate plants (indoor or outdoor) or share your garden harvest as the summer progresses
