Dear Friends in Faith,

If you count the days between Ash Wednesday and Easter you will find that they add up to more than 40 days.  Yet we speak of Lent as being a 40 day journey.  This is because every Sunday is a “little Easter.”  The Sundays in Lent don’t count!  So if you gave up chocolate or soda or coffee for Lent you can enjoy them on Sundays and not break your Lenten fast 🙂

More importantly, though, every Sunday ~ even during the somber season of Lent ~ we celebrate God’s love for us through his son, Jesus.  Below you will find a prayer lifting up that love.  And please scroll down further to read about the upcoming activities of our Faith family and community.

Your Friend in Faith,
Pastor Krista Beth

Inscribed upon our heart,
the maker’s mark,
indelible,
the Word of God,
‘Love’
beautifully written,
heartfelt,
that all God’s people
might know
that we are precious,
children
of a heavenly Father
becoming family together,
and may eyes lift upward
as we listen together
to hear angels worship. Amen

Yes, it’s here already! Remember to turn your clocks ahead one hour Saturday night!

A Lenten Healing Service will be held THIS Sunday, March 8th at 5pm.
This Service of Healing is open to all who wish to pray for any kind of healing.  We may need healing from physical pain and illness as well as emotional, relational, and spiritual dis-ease.  This will be a service of quiet reflection and prayer.  All are welcome.

Missionary Jeremias Franca will preach on Sunday, March 22nd
A potluck lunch will follow.  Sign-up on the Kiosk.

JUMP Bag Collection
During the month of March, we are responsible for filling 30 food bags for JUMP (Joint Urban Ministries Project).  JUMP operates out of the Congregational Church downtown and distributes bags to 10 families each day.  Hannaford’s has donated 30 reusable bags and there is a list attached of items needed on each bag.   These are available in the narthex and when filled should be returned there.

MARCH BASKETBOWL MADNESS – The Chittenden Emergency Food Shelf is in need of cereal bowls.  We are collecting six inch diameter bowls though the month of March.  There is a basketbowl basket in the Narthex.

Outreach Opportunity:  Help Our Neighbors in Need
We are collecting items to fill “guest bags” for the new Burlington Warming Shelter.  Items needed are listed on the tear off sheet on the kiosk.  For those who travel frequently, we need your hotel soaps, shampoos, conditioners and lotions.  There is a basket in the Gathering Space for collecting items.

It’s a Party … And You’re Invited!  (Message from Gary)
Please join us on March 15th to celebrate Pastor Krista Beth’s 40th birthday. We’ll gather in Brand Hall at 2:00pm to sing Happy Birthday and watch her blow out the candles on her cake. It’ll be an upbeat time of celebrating and looking forward to what Krista has called “the best decade yet.” RSVP to Julie Waldron in the gathering space or at jstar8@myfairpoint.net.

Your presence is gift enough, but if you really want to bring a present, Pastor Krista Beth has asked that people make a donation to the United Methodist Women’s Domestic Violence Initiative. A basket will be available at the party to collect donations. If you are unable to attend, but would still like to make a donation, please send your check to:
